Interests

Travelling, reading, walking, socialising, spending time with my husband, children, grandchildren and of course Inner Wheel.

Background

My husband and I have owned our own business from the time we were married. I was responsible for all office work and at one time was also overlooking the running of our stores. I have been involved in volunteer groups for 43 years.

What does IW mean to you?

As a passionate Inner Wheel member for 23 years our amazing organisation has brought me purpose, friendships, joy and connection. I have had the honour of holding numerous roles within Inner Wheel at Club, District, National and International level.

Interests

I enjoy travel, sewing and crafting, time with friends, and my family – my husband Campbell, daughter Jordan (studying Med Lab in Dunedin) and son Lloyd (working in Methven Contracting).

Background

My mum introduced me to Inner Wheel when I was 27 years old and I have been a member since, taking on Club, District, and now National roles. I have attended all but one National Conference since joining and attended two IIW Conventions.

What does IW mean to you?

Inner Wheel started as an extended family - I grew up with most of the women in my Club. Now I have extended families all over the country. It's also given me the change to deepen my involvement in community projects, charities and supporting women worldwide, while sharing friendship with wonderful women.

Interests

I love craft, DIY and learning. My time is shared between grandchildren, crafts, Women’s Refuge and Inner Wheel. With a little bit of time for my husband.

Background

Married with 2 daughters and 2 grandchildren. Born in Taranaki but lived in the UK for 10 years, where I worked as a barmaid and a teacher. Came home with an English husband and 2 daughters. In NZ I owned and ran a souvenir shop for 20 years.

What does IW mean to you?

Giving women a voice worldwide. A safe space to learn and grow amongst friends. Meeting amazing women. My dream would be to have an Inner Wheel club in every town so all women can enjoy what we offer. It’s something special.

Interests

My happy place is on my bike - commuting around Christchurch's cycleways, riding the amazing NZ Cycle Trails or cycling overseas. Regular spin classes at The Kind Foundation help keep me fit enough to enjoy cycling.

Background

Beyond raising 3 children, I worked in administration at YMCA Christchurch and at my husband’s dental practice. I've enjoyed learning new skills through volunteering with organisations like Plunket, School PTA, Girl Guides and Swimming Club.

What does IW mean to you?

I joined as a Charter Member of my Club 18 years ago for the chance to belong to a group of women that had similar interests, a shared willingness to serve the community and a desire to build friendships beyond family life. It gave me something that was mine - and that still holds true today.

Inner Wheel Club of Howick

Background

I joined the Inner Wheel Club of Howick in 2021, drawn by a genuine passion for its objectives and the friendships it fosters among members. Due to the circumstances at the time, I immediately took on committee roles as ISO, Membership, and Vice President. This experience deepened my connection to the organisation and prompted me to study the “red” book, solidifying my enthusiasm for Inner Wheel.

What does IW mean to you?

Serving on both district and national committees has provided invaluable opportunities to learn, connect, and contribute. I have witnessed the positive changes we are making to strengthen Inner Wheel New Zealand and am inspired by our potential for further growth.

Interests

I am an avid gardener and a member of the Waikanae Garden Circle, and I sing in the Kapiti Gospel Choir. I enjoy knitting toys which are donated through our IW club to the Wellington Children’s Hospital. My husband and I belong to an e-bike club and get out on the local cycleways twice a week.

Background

I've had two careers – a Secretary, then a Polytech tutor teaching secretarial skills. I've been involved in various community organisations since my children were small, and currently sit on five committees – including in IW at Club and District level. I get great enjoyment out of spending time with friends and making a difference in our communities.

What does IW mean to you?

Inner Wheel has given me new friendships, a chance to develop my leadership and administrative, and real satisfaction in performing charitable works. It is a big part of my life, and this will be my second time as District Chair for NZ294.

Interests

In my spare time, I love quilting and knitting, finding joy in making beautiful, practical items for family, friends, and those in need.

Background

I am married to Andrew and am a proud mum of three adult sons. In my Club, I've enjoyed serving in a range of roles including President, ISO, and Editor, and currently as District Chairman for NZ297.

What does IW mean to you?

Inner Wheel has given me deep friendships and a strong sense of purpose through service. I enjoy creating and connecting with others, and I value the warmth and support of our community.
